Donated toys for bravery

14 February

On the eve of World Childhood Cancer Day, established at the initiative of parents of children with cancer and celebrated around the world, 15 February, gifts were brought to the oncohematology department of the Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital for the project "A Toy for Courage".

Children, patients in the oncohematology department, constantly feel pain, fear, and despair. After all, every day they undergo numerous painful, unpleasant, and sometimes lengthy procedures.
But treatment is necessary! And the only thing adults can do to help – is distract the child from the pain. For example, with a small toy – a prize for courage! This simple idea helps children overcome their fear of painful procedures, and enables nurses and doctors to perform the necessary procedures more quickly and safely.

Oncology departments in children's hospitals around the world use this incentive method.
Anyone can support our project financially or by bringing toys to the oncohematology department themselves.

There are requirements for the toys: they must be new, clean, not soft, small, and safe (no sharp edges, made of high-quality materials, odorless). These can include small airplanes, cars, motorcycles, various animals, dolls, puzzles, board games, and books.

We appreciate everyone who helps! Help comes in many forms!
