Daniil badly needs our help again! To return to a full life the boy needs an operation costing 30 000 euros. They are ready to carry out the operation tomorrow; the only question is money. Dania's parents very much hope for help from you and us. On their own they cannot manage!

More detailed information is in the «news» section on the child's page.

Daniil's story:

In the first year after he was born Daniil grew and developed normally; he was a very calm, active, inquisitive and smiling little boy. His parents were getting ready for the child's first birthday, when suddenly, on 23 February, their life turned upside down in a matter of minutes.

Daniil suddenly developed terrible pain in his tummy and urine retention. The child was admitted to the urology department and a Foley catheter was fitted, but the pain in his tummy went on. The doctors said it was a tumour in the small pelvis. Another three weeks of waiting and a terrible diagnosis: embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate with spread to the bladder. Stage 3. High-risk group.

4 blocks of chemotherapy were prescribed for the little boy. He went through the first block at the Odesa regional children's clinical hospital, in the oncohaematology department. It was very hard: his blood counts fell, his temperature rose high, there was nausea and vomiting, but Danichka fought bravely. They were about to start the second block when suddenly there was horror again: urine retention, now even with the catheter. An emergency operation was carried out to save his life. Catheters were brought out from the ureters and the bladder. Then the chemotherapy continued.

After the fourth block a very complex and difficult operation awaits Daniil; there is a risk of heavy blood loss, which for a child of that age and with low blood counts may mean a fatal outcome.

The operation itself means removing the prostate and the bladder. The boy's parents searched a great deal on the internet about this diagnosis and learnt that in Germany other methods of treatment are used, methods that make it possible to preserve the organs, if not completely then at least partly, and if the operation cannot be avoided, there is a chance to live and remain a whole child. But treatment at a German clinic is very expensive, and the family of a sick child has no such means.

Danichka is a restless, joyful, bright, kind and clever little boy. The boy's parents pray to God and ask everyone who cares to help them. Help save the little one!
